Shostakovich's sonata for violin and piano was written as a gift given on the world-famous violinist David Oistrakh's 60th birthday and, of course, he played it for the first time, in 1969. According to the reviews, the welcoming piece is one of the most beautiful and successful works of the composer's late creative period, so much so that it also inspired a thrilling re-arrangement. Instead of the piano, the violin solo is embraced by the string orchestra timbre of the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra.

Liszt Ferenc KamarazenekarBach and Mendelssohn – a fascinating pair in music history. Despite being born 59 years after the death of the brilliant Baroque composer, Mendelssohn, as a great director, placed them in a kind of master-student relationship. This unique connection allowed young Mendelssohn to rediscover the almost forgotten genius, to train himself by studying his works, and then to use his own success and popularity to introduce the works of the composer considered to be the greatest of all to the audience of his time.
A Liszt Ferenc Kamarazenekar hagyományosan bérleten kívüli – művészeti vezetőjével, Várdai István világhírű csellóművésszel közös – koncerttel ünnepli születésnapját. A budapesti zenei élet kiemelkedő eseményére az annalesekbe bejegyzett megalakulási dátumhoz képest (1963. március 18., a zenekar első nyilvános zeneakadémiai hangversenye) 2 nappal később, de a köszöntéshez illő 8 napon belül kerül sor.

Whims of a Star is far from the outstanding Hungarian pianist Zoltán Fejérvári, who, through quiet but persistent and hard work, has sold out and celebrated concerts both in Hungary and abroad. With the same devotion and firm talent, the Liszt Prize-winning musician successfully re-established the focus of musical interest in the artistic legacy of the 20th-century Hungarian composer, Sándor Veress.
