Daniel and Andreas Ottensamer are guests of the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra on the first Advent Sunday. Both are solo clarinettists of renowned European orchestras, but there will be no instrumental competition this evening, with the older brother playing the solo in the Weber Clarinet Concerto and the younger Ottensamer conducting the varied programme.
Following the Stravinsky Concerto, which might be described as a classical piece of 20th century modern music, Weber’s popular Romantic Clarinet Concerto will be performed. In the second half of the concert, as part of its tradition of Advent concerts at the Academy of Music, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra will be joined by talented students and their mentors, outstanding orchestral musicians taking part in the Masterpiece project with the Liszt Academy, for a performance of an early Beethoven symphony rich in musical ideas.
Organized by the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra and the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
